British Gas WebSaver 4

British Gas has launched a new version of the online-only WebSaver price plan in the form of WebSaver 4.

At the time of writing, British Gas says this is the “cheapest nationally available online dual fuel tariff at average consumption”.

Available to to credit meter customers only, WebSaver 4 includes a minimum 6% discount against their standard tariff rates until 30th November 2010 along with a discount for paying by direct debit plus a further discount for taking both gas and electricity.

The tariff also includes compulsory paperless billing and – on a less welcome note – the prospect of a cancellation fee of £30 per fuel for any customers who, having switched to WebSaver 4, later wish to cancel (but only if they do so before 28 February 2010).

British Gas Energy Savers Store

On a related note, British Gas has also launched an online “Energy Savers Store“, which features energy saving solutions for the home. Product categories include:

- Energy saving lightbulbs;
- Standby power savers (for cutting unnecessary standby power to TVs, PCs, etc);
- Green gadgets (from eco-friendly Sony Bravia TVs with HCFL backlights to eco-kettles and OWL electricity cost monitors);
- Insulation (for lofts and cavity walls);
- Heating (eg radiator panels to mount behind existing radiators, thermostatic radiator valves, A-rated boilers);
- Solar panels;
- Home energy assessments.

Postage and packing for orders from the British Gas Energy Savers Store is charged at £4.95 for spend under £50, with orders over £50 delivered free.
