ScottishPower has launched a new online-only gas and electricity tariff that makes it the cheapest of the UK’s big six suppliers for households with average dual fuel energy use.

The offer guarantees that prices will stay at least 3% cheaper than Scottish Power’s standard gas and electricity prices for customers who pay by monthly direct. The guarantee runs until the end of November 2010. Customers who cancel or switch away from the tariff before then may incur cancellation charges of £50 (£30 for electricity and £20 for gas).

Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 7 customers also benefit from dual fuel and online discounts as per the standard tariff plus cash back on any credit balances at the date of their annual account reassessment (when the amount of the montly direct debit is reviewed).

For the purposes of comparison, average annual usage is defined as electricity usage of 3,300kWh and gas usage of 20,500kWh. Customers whose gas is supplied via an Independent Gas Transporter pay an extra £42 IGT premium per year on top of Online Energy Saver 7’s published prices.
