Mr T Wins Lottery

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Well, OK, not quite.

I’ve just been on The National Lottery’s site, buying my ticket for tomorrow night’s £36m Euromillions lottery draw (with a multi-rollover jackpot).

The lottery’s site features a continuous stream of announcements running at the top of the page, showing brief details of prizes won on their instant win games.

As I was signing out, I saw the unlikely headline “Mr T. wins £2″, which rather tickled me.

I wonder if he won it playing “Pigs Might Fly”?  As fans of The A-Team will know, that would be an especially nice touch…

Friends Reunited’s prize slip-up

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

I received an email recently from Friends Reunited, the now infamous site that enables you to look up and get in touch with old friends from your past neighbourhoods, schools, university, places of work, etc.

The email was designed to encourage me to use their service - specifically, they wanted me to email as many friends as possible during the month, with the incentive of getting one entry into a prize draw for £1,000 in return for each message sent via their site.

All very well and good. Except that this email was sent to me on Friday 15 June and referred to a promotion that ran during MAY and had therefore already closed. They even said within the email that the winner would be announced at the beginning of June!

“Good luck”, they said in closing. Somehow I don’t think luck will be enough to help me to win a prize draw that closed before they even told me about it…
