Our charity directory features a range of methods for supporting your favoured cause. You can sign up as a new supporter, arranging a regular donation by direct debit, sponsor a child or an animal through an official charity sponsorship programme or give someone a novel present by buying them something from a charity's alternative gift range.

Cancer Research UKCancer Research UK Commended

Cancer Research UK works to improve understanding of cancer and find more effective ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it. The charity welcomes regular gifts from £2 a month paid by direct debit, to help them make a real difference, including supporting over 500 research groups in locations throughout the UK.

WWF Adopt An AnimalWWF Commended

You can adopt a range of animals with WWF-UK as a gift or yourself. Adopting a dolphin, panda, orang-utan, elephant, tiger, polar bear or rhino costs from as little as £3 a month and is easy to organise online. In return, you'll receive an adoption pack complete with a soft toy of your chosen animal and much more.

Plan UKPlan International Commended

You can sponsor a child with Plan UK from just £12 a month. Child sponsorship helps Plan to put in place projects that support that child's family and community with education, healthcare, food, clothing and many other tools and benefits to help them escape the poverty traps of the world's poorest countries.

The National TrustThe National Trust Commended

Britain's largest conservation charity, The National Trust looks after over 300 houses of historic significance, over 600,000 acres of countryside and 700 miles of coastline. By joining as a member, you can visit many properties and benefit from free parking. Members receive an annual handbook, regional newsletters and the National Trust's magazine, published three times a year.

Compassion in World FarmingCompassion in World Farming Commended

Compassion in World Farming seeks the support of people who share their view that it's not OK to turn a blind eye to the suffering and distress that's caused to billions of farmed animals each year. Their on-site video demonstrates how everyday farming practices involve cruelty that many people would find impossible to condone, if only they understood what lies behind the food they eat daily.

Action AidAction Aid

Action Aid operates a child sponsorship programme, helping children and their communities to tackle poverty. Just £15 per month or 50p a day helps the charity to provide education, food, healthcare, safe water and self-sufficiency projects. Sponsoring an individual child with ActionAid will make a real change to their life.

World VisionWorld Vision

You can sponsor a child with World Vision for just 60p a day, which the charity will use to fund development work, providing the basics that we take for granted. As part of your sponsorship arrangement, you can connect personally with the child you're supporting - including receiving annual photos and progress reports.

RSPBRSPB

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds works to protect the UK's wild birds, other wildlife & the habitats on which they depend, including owning & managing nature reserves, which members can visit. RSPB members receive a full colour quarterly magazine, entry to over 100 of the RSPB's reserves and a joining gift.

NSPCCNSPCC

You can support the work of the UK's best known children's charity by arranging to make a regular donation, starting from just £2 per month. The three stage sign-up process is conducted over a secure connection and your support can help the charity's work in seeking to bring cruelty to children to a FULL STOP.

Save The Children - Wish List (gifts)Save The Children

"Wish List" from Save The Children offers a choice of gifts that are sent to help children who are in need of charitable support. These presents, ranging from £5 upwards, can be sent on behalf of friends and family members, who receive a card and message telling them about the gift that's been bought on their behalf.

ChildlineChildline

Run by the NSPCC, Childline operates a confidential helpline for children, offering support and counselling to some of most vulnerable people in our society. You can support their ongoing work either by making a one-off contribution or by signing up to become a regular giver via direct debit.

World Vision Alternative GiftsWorld Vision Gifts

The Alternative Gift Catalogue from World Vision offers over 70 great gift ideas from £5 to over £5,000 - basically, something for every occasion! Purchases provide items and the training needed to use them to communities living in poverty world-wide - plus a gift card for your recipient.

WWF-UK MembershipWWF

You can help WWF-UK to preserve the natural world, wildlife and their habitats by becoming a member, which costs from only £3 per month as an individual or £4 per month as a family. Members receive a regular magazine, a guide to green living and more. Or if you prefer, you can adopt an animal with WWF-UK instead.

WSPAWSPCA

The World Society for the Protection of Animals is a UK registered charity that works to promote the concept and principles of animal welfare around the world. Examples of their work - for which they're seeking new regular financial support - include campaigns against bear farming, bear baiting and dancing bears.

NDCS ChallengesNCDS Challenges

NDCS Challenges is a leading organiser of challenge events, which raise money through sponsorship for the National Deaf Children's Society. The NDCS works to support deaf children, their families and support workers. You can sign up online for UK and international events including skydives, treks and marathons.

National Deaf Children's SocietyNDCS

If you'd rather help in a different way than undertaking one of NDCS's challenges (see above), you can register your interest to support the charity by completing a simple online form. All you'll be asked for is your title, name, the first line of your address, your postcode, phone number and email address.

Practical PresentsPractical Presents

Practical Presents offers a choice of 25 alternative gifts that you can purchase on behalf of a loved one to help transform lives in areas of need throughout the world, including in communities in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Recipients are sent a personalised gift pack with an information card.

EnvirofoneEnvirofone

Trade in your old mobile phone and choose to receive either cash or Argos vouchers in return. Use Envirofone's online calculator to see how much your old phone is worth. Where possible, phones are re-used in areas of need. Otherwise, the mobile phones are recycled in an environmentally safe manner.

The Aspinall FoundationThe Aspinall Foundation

The Aspinall Foundation operates two wild animal parks in Kent and Gorilla reserves in Africa. They offer animal adoption from only £3 per month, with a range of species and specific animals available to adopt. Extra benefits are available for adopters who offer higher levels of donations, including free passes.

Great Ormond Street Hospital CharityGOSH

Great Ormond Street Hospital is a London-based NHS children's hospital, which undertakes more children's operations and medical interventions than any other in the world. Donations raised by its associated charity enable GOSH to fund further research, buy specialist equipment and provide family accommodation.
